Junior Linux Engineer RoleAbout the Job:

As a junior Linux kernel engineer, you will have the opportunity to develop and improve kernel-level software in multiple areas. You will work collaboratively with a distributed team to learn from senior mentors and contribute to the development of the Linux kernel.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate regularly with a globally distributed team on kernel development projects.
  • Work closely with external teams on bleeding-edge platforms.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues in the kernel reported by customers and the community.
  • Take personal responsibility for delivering various flavors of the Ubuntu Linux kernel.
  • Improve tooling and automation for delivery and test of Ubuntu Linux kernels.
  • Submit, review, and apply kernel patches.
Requirements:
  • A well-organized self-starter able to thrive in a remote work environment.
  • A professional manner with colleagues and the open-source community.
  • The ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Programming experience in C and/or Rust.
  • Familiarity with version control practices.
  • An understanding of operating system kernel fundamentals.
