Job Title: Medical Receptionist

This is a medical receptionist role that involves providing exceptional patient care and administrative support in a dedicated cancer care environment.

The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of relevant experience in a private healthcare setting, with a strong understanding of Medicare, health funds, gap payments, and excess payments. They will possess excellent communication and customer service skills, as well as the ability to work efficiently with attention to detail.

About the Role

We are seeking a Day Hospital Admissions Officer & Medical Receptionist to join our centre on a permanent full-time or part-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for effectively managing the collection and verification of patient information, liaising with patients and family members, and ensuring accurate financial records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with patients and family members in a compassionate and friendly manner.
  • Ensure accurate collection of new patient information.
  • Confirm financial responsibility for all admissions.
  • Liaise with patient and patient's family effectively.
  • Liaise with health insurance fund customer service personnel to verify health insurance status.
  • Communicate clearly with patients and their families to ensure all patients are well informed of financial costs related to admissions.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Administration or Medical Receptionist Qualification advantageous but not essential.
  • 1-2 years relevant professional medical / hospital reception experience, with current knowledge and understanding of health insurance funds.
  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
  • Professional, efficient, and friendly manner both over-the-phone and face-to-face.
  • Outstanding team member qualities including willing to support your colleagues and positive attitude.
  • Ability to work efficiently with attention to detail.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Outlook.
  • G P Practice or Medical Software experience highly advantageous.
