ASIC is the primary regulator of the Australian financial services sector.

Salary: EL1 – from $123,444 + 15.4% superannuation.

Job Description: As a Regulatory Policy Specialist at ASIC, you will play a key role in shaping the regulatory framework for the financial services sector.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake risk-based supervision across the sector and participate in thematic reviews to identify and address potential issues.
  • Assess applications for relief from relevant legislation and provide sound regulatory advice.
  • Conduct assessments of governance practices and risks within the sector.
  • Support the implementation of policy and law reform initiatives.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to share knowledge and best practice.
  • Collect and analyze data to inform regulatory decisions and identify new opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain ASIC's regulatory resources and toolkit, ensuring they remain relevant and effective.
  • Collaborate with other teams to drive enforcement and compliance outcomes.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and membership of a relevant professional body.
  • Experience assessing and challenging complex information to make sound regulatory judgements.
  • Strong analytical and research skills, including data analysis and presentation.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills to present information to different audiences.
  • Ability to work strategically and forge relationships to leverage available data and information opportunities.
  • Experience verifying and challenging complex information, and making sound regulatory judgements.
  • Capacity to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines to deliver effective outcomes.
  • Strong writing and editing skills to distill key messages.

Estimated Salary Range: AU$123,444 - AU$173,284 per annum, plus superannuation.
