Recreational Activities Officer

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Recreational Activities Officer to join our team at BaptistCare Griffith Centre in Canberra.

About the Role

As the Recreational Activities Officer, you will be responsible for planning and organizing a range of social, recreational and cultural activities that promote the engagement and participation of residents. You will work closely with residents to understand their individual needs, values, spiritual and cultural preferences, and tailor programs to meet their unique requirements.

This is a permanent part-time position working 48 hours a fortnight, typically Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and organize recreational activity programs that cater to the diverse needs and interests of residents.
  • Work collaboratively with residents, families, and other staff members to ensure a person-centered approach to care.
  • Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local community groups and organizations to enhance the quality of life for residents.
Requirements
  • Certificate IV in Leisure and Lifestyle (or willingness to complete).
  • Experience working with people with dementia.
  • Current NSW/ACT Driver's Licence.
  • Senior First Aid Certificate.
  • Previous experience in caring for the elderly within an aged or community care setting.
  • Highly developed organization and time management skills.
  • Understanding of Resident Rights, Aged Care Accreditation Standards and Outcomes.
