Key Responsibilities:

The EHS Specialist will work closely with the EHS Manager to lead day-to-day aspects of EHS compliance, including inspections, audits, and procedures. This will involve working in accordance with current statutory, regulatory, and company standards. The position will also undertake activities such as training, management, and control of EHS programs, as well as collaborating with internal customers and departments to improve EHS performance indicators.

A Day in the Life:

  1. Provide advice and guidance on Health, Safety, and Environmental Issues
  2. Monitor site EHS performance, reporting at local and divisional level
  3. Assist in achieving Continual Process Improvement on Site
  4. Management of site EHS documentation and recording systems
  5. Audit Departments/Contractors
  6. Undertake, lead, and coordinate Risk Assessment Program and provide mentorship to the larger team
  7. Supervise and coordinate site EHS Training
  8. Ensure legislative and regulatory compliance
  9. Provide assistance to the various committee teams
  10. Support Occupational Health Program
  11. Quality: To implement, maintain, and advise on HSE matters, in accordance with statutory, regulatory, and company standards, procedures, and systems relevant to cGMP systems in the workplace. Complete investigation reports, corrective actions, change controls, EHS procedures relevant to cGMP environment
  12. Customer Allegiance: To ensure the availability and reliability/accuracy of all facility reports, in order to satisfy customer requirements
  13. Improvement & Efficiency: To lead, participate, and contribute to Practical Process Improvement (PPI) projects that deliver business HSE objectives in an efficient manner

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Health, Safety, Environmental, Risk Management, Occupational Hygiene, or other relevant qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in a relevant technical field (Engineering, Science, etc.), supplemented with Cert IV or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety
  • Previous experience in Pharmaceutical/GmP Industry Environmental, Health, and Safety experience preferred
  • Knowledge of EHS legislation
  • Experience in taking care of Local and Regulatory Authorities
  • Excellent presentation and motivational skills
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships and effective communication
