Job Description:
Deliver Student Wellbeing and Support Services
As a Student Wellbeing and Support Officer, you will provide professional support services to students in a government school setting. Your primary goal is to develop, coordinate, and implement strategies that promote student mental health and wellbeing.
To achieve this, you will be required to perform the following key tasks:
- Develop and deliver small group interventions to support student mental health and wellbeing.
- Assist with intake processes within the wellbeing hub, including risk assessments and follow-up with year level leaders.
- Act as an initial contact person for staff and students accessing the wellbeing hub, creating a welcoming space.
- Provide individual counselling support to students.
- Work closely with leadership, teachers, and external agencies to develop policies and practices supporting student success, engagement, and wellbeing.
- Engage in professional learning to increase knowledge of student mental health and wellbeing.
- Maintain records and ensure up-to-date student information in accordance with policy and guidelines.
- Support families in accessing relief agencies and develop proactive classroom programs improving student resilience.
- Provide information and advice to parents and students upon request, including referrals to DET Student Support Services and alternative education/training/employment programs.
- Create referral pathways for students requiring further assessment and intervention, both internally and externally.

- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Capacity to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
- Current First Aid Certification.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Counselling, Psychology, or Education.
- Registration with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency).
