Job Overview

Hancock Energy seeks a senior reservoir engineer to support onshore oil and gas projects in Western Australia. The successful candidate will collaborate with geoscience professionals, lead fluid analysis programs, and integrate knowledge from subsurface studies into dynamic modelling workflows.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with geoscience teams to develop reservoir models for field development activities
  • Lead fluid analysis programs, including compositional analyses, fluid assays, and PVT interpretation
  • Integrate subsurface study results into dynamic modelling workflows
  • Work collaboratively with geophysicists to integrate seismic interpretations into dynamic models
  • Contribute to appraisal and development well planning activities
  • Formulate well test programs with geoscientists and drilling engineers
  • Support real-time operations during drilling and direct third-party contractor activities on the well-site
  • Coordinate with well test engineers to ensure well test operations are conducted according to plan
  • Provide input into core analysis programs with petrophysicists and geologists
  • Conduct pressure transient analysis and material balance modeling
Requirements:
  • Significant industry experience (min 15 yrs) in reservoir engineering roles with expertise in fluid behaviour and dynamic reservoir response
  • Robust understanding of pore pressure and its implications
  • Strong knowledge of static model construction and integration into dynamic modelling workflow
  • Strong knowledge in Special Core Analysis and its applications
  • Strong knowledge of petroleum economics and financial management
  • Proficient in use of scripts and workflows, with ability to automate tasks and improve efficiency
  • Sound understanding of uncertainty and optimisation concepts, with experience in methods such as Monte Carlo, Latin Hypercube Sampling, and experimental design
  • Knowledge of SPE-PRMS resource classification and its practical application in the oil and gas industry
  • Experienced user of industry-standard reservoir modelling software, including static modelling, network and material balance modeling
