Overview

Hancock Energy has a full-time opportunity for a Senior Reservoir Engineer to join a growing team supporting onshore oil and gas projects throughout Western Australia. This opportunity is within the subsurface team, responsible for delivery of reservoir engineering works and dynamic models in support of field appraisal, well planning, development planning and field production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with geoscience professionals to build dynamic reservoir models in support of Hancock Energy field development activities
  • Lead fluid analysis programs including compositional analyses, fluid assays, PVT analysis and interpretation of experimental results
  • Integrate knowledge and results from subsurface studies into dynamic modelling workflows
  • Work collaboratively with geophysicists to integrate seismic interpretations such as faults and attribute derived features into dynamic models and interpretations
  • Contribute to appraisal and development well planning activities, drilling, pressure and sampling programs
  • Formulate well test programs in consultation with geoscientists, drilling and completions engineers
  • Supporting real-time operations during drilling, lead the pressure and sampling program, and direct third party contractor activities on the well-site
  • Coordinate with well test engineers to ensure well test operations on-site are conducted according to the well test management plan and well test objectives
  • Provide input into core analysis programs in collaboration with petrophysicists and geologists
  • Conduct pressure transient analysis and material balance modelling
  • Work collaboratively with geomodellers to integrate static models into the dynamic domain
To be successful in this role, you will need
  • Significant industry experience min 15 yrs in reservoir engineering roles with expertise in fluid behaviour and dynamic reservoir response
  • Robust understanding of pore pressure
  • Strong knowledge of static model construction and proven track record of integration into dynamic modelling workflow
  • Strong knowledge in Special Core Analysis
  • Strong knowledge of petroleum economics
  • Proficient in use of scripts and workflows
  • Sound understanding of uncertainty and optimisation concepts and application of methods such as Monte Carlo, Latin Hypercube Sampling, and experimental design
  • Knowledge of SPE-PRMS resource classification and its practical application
  • Experienced user of industry-standard reservoir modelling workflows and software; e.g. static modelling (SLB Petrel Suite), GAP / network and material balance modelling (PETEX Suite, Previso, PipeSim, etc.)
