Lycopodium is an Australian-based consultancy providing asset management, engineering, architectural, and project delivery services to private and public clients nationwide and internationally.

We are currently seeking a skilled Track Inspector with rail sector experience to join our Newcastle team. The successful candidate will undertake track inspections, defect assessments, and certification.

The role involves:

  • Working locally and Australia-wide on a rostered system, providing unbiased and independent advice to clients.
  • Track examination and certification.
  • Rail maintenance site coordination and supervision when required.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A current Certificate III in Rail Infrastructure or
  • A Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure with additional TLI units of competency: TLIB3090 – Check & Repair Track Geometry, TLIB3095 – Check & Repair points & Crossings, TLIB3099 – Examine Track Infrastructure, TLIB3100 – Visually Inspect Track Infrastructure.
  • ARTC Protection Officer Level 2 (Lycopodium may provide training for applicants who do not hold this qualification).
  • Work Safely in the Construction Industry Induction (White Card).
  • First Aid Certificate.
  • Proven ability to inspect and assess defects and recommend maintenance scopes.
  • Fundamental understanding of rail industry standards.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively according to rosters and planned work.
  • Sound level of technology application in the field.
  • Commitment to producing high-quality work and ethical behavior.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and practical problem-solving approach.

The remuneration package includes a competitive salary of approximately $80,000 - $110,000 per annum, plus travel and meal allowances, as well as use of a company vehicle.
