About the Role
Support individuals to live independently, enabling them to complete daily routines and activities confidently both at home and in their communities. Assist clients to identify, access, and engage in community and social activities, supporting them to achieve long-term goals and maintain overall health and wellbeing.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Establish meaningful and professional relationships with each client and their family, understanding their unique needs, goals, and daily living activities.
- Utilise positive reinforcement and behaviour management techniques to support clients in achieving their daily routines and goals.
- Provide a high level of physical support to clients, including all aspects of manual handling, lifting, bending, stretching, and physical transfer.
- Assist with toileting, showering, mealtime management, medication, grooming, dressing, household duties, and other tasks as required by the client.
- Support clients with daily planning, advocacy, communication, and transport requirements in home and community settings.
- Assist clients in accessing and purchasing items with their own money, adhering to our Money Handling Policy.
Requirements
We are seeking committed and empathetic individuals with proven experience supporting clients with complex mental health and cognitive conditions. To be successful in this role, you must possess hands-on experience working with individuals diagnosed with Behaviours of Concern related to conditions such as:
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Experience working with high-needs clients and managing Behaviours of Concern.
- Hold a minimum Certificate III qualification in a relevant area such as Disability, Community Services, Mental Health, or Aged Care.
- Current First Aid Certificate with CPR.
- Valid Victorian driver's licence and reliable vehicle.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Satisfaction of all requirements for working in Australia.
- Disability, Management, Nursing, or Allied Health-related qualifications.
- Experience working in community, residential, and/or rehabilitation environments.
- Awareness of relevant legislation, such as the Disability Act 2006, or Department of Health and Human Services' ISO Standards.
