About the Role

The Estimating Manager (Transmission) is a key leadership position within UGL's Utilities business, responsible for providing estimating expertise and leading a team of Transmission Line estimators across multiple states.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic support to the group by monitoring workload and progress to ensure effective resource allocation and assessing resourcing needs to meet business objectives.
  • Collaborate with operational departments to establish requirements and detail the accuracy of tender pricing.
  • Attend pre-award and post-tender meetings with the wider Pre-Contracts Team, responding to queries and understanding requirements.
  • Develop and implement standard estimating guidelines and tendering processes across the Utilities Business, aligning with Corporate Governance requirements.
  • Provide leadership, direction, supervision, and inspirational management to all team members.
  • Establish clear communication, solid lines of control, and actively create and maintain a culture of openness, responsiveness, honesty, ethics, and responsibility across the team.
Requirements
  • Quantity Surveying or Engineering Degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in an engineering and construction environment with an emphasis on Transmission Line projects.
  • Estimating from first principles, with a self-performing and contracting deliverable environment.
  • Experience with estimating software necessary, with a background in Expert Estimation, CCS, or CATS desirable.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to establish effective working relationships and sound communication skills.
