Job Description

Aboriginal Housing Victoria is an Aboriginal community organisation responsible for managing rental properties for Aboriginal people. Our vision is to ensure that Aboriginal Victorians secure appropriate, affordable housing as a pathway to better lives and stronger communities.

AHV works in partnership with Government to secure resources and reforms to implement the policy, while supporting sector development to empower Victoria's Aboriginal community to determine its chosen housing future.

We are seeking applications from highly motivated, reliable people who are keen to work in an Aboriginal organisation that is taking the next step towards self-determination and self-management by ensuring that the organisation is able to maintain a sustainable and financially viable housing portfolio across Victoria.

Position Details
  • Location: Melbourne (Fitzroy North)
  • Work Type: Part Time, maximum term contract

This role will oversee The Renter Home Purchase Program pilot, a new initiative developed by Aboriginal Housing Victoria that gives eligible renters the opportunity to buy the home they currently live in.

Role Responsibilities
  1. Provide guidance and information to the community about RHPP and Rent-to-Buy options.
  2. Assess Expressions of Interest (EOIs) and make recommendations on approvals in collaboration with internal Directors.
  3. Support development of program evaluation to determine ongoing feasibility.
Key Qualifications and Skills
  • Awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures.
  • Experience in developing corporate policies, program procedures and manuals.
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills.
