Palliative Medicine Specialist Opportunity

This fixed term maternity leave cover position is an exciting opportunity to join our multidisciplinary team in a consultation liaison site and service at Monash Health. As a palliative medicine specialist, you will be working as part of a team to provide safe and effective person-centered care to patients. Your expertise will be utilized to develop and implement comprehensive care plans, ensuring the best possible outcomes for patients.

You will be administratively accountable to the Director of Supportive and Palliative Care and the Medical Director of the Cancer Services Program at Monash Health. This role involves working across all Monash Health campuses, with opportunities to support the Rapid Response Palliative Care Integrated Community Inreach Service and provide leave cover to clinics and inpatient palliative care duties as required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive care plans for patients
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to provide safe and effective person-centered care
  • Provide teaching and supervision of junior medical staff and students
  • Participate in a rotating on-call roster for after-hours support
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:

  • A Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or equivalent post-graduate qualification
  • Membership of the RACP's Chapter of Palliative Medicine or eligibility to join
  • Appropriate academic credentials in palliative medicine
Desirable Skills:

In addition to the above requirements, it is desirable that you have expertise in refractory symptom management, consultative palliative care services, community palliative care, and telehealth models.
