Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled professional to fill the role of Specialist Case Worker in a dynamic team at the Department of Justice and Community Safety. As a Specialist Case Worker, you will play a critical part in community safety and supervision of high-risk individuals with complex needs.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a high-performing team in the Victorian Public Service, providing a critical service to the community.

You will be responsible for conducting searches and security checks, exercising specific delegations and functions, and accompanying residents on outings. You will also collaborate with Specialist Case Managers to co-case manage residents, reinforce case goals, and encourage appropriate interactions and pro-social living skills.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to proactively respond to the complex needs of residents through a responsive, tailored, and flexible support approach.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Conducting searches and security checks and exercising specific delegations and functions;
  • Playing an active role in developing and maintaining a culture that supports rehabilitation and transition;
  • Accompanying residents on outings, giving lawful directions to residents as required, and observing and reporting on order compliance;
  • Collaborating with Specialist Case Managers to co-case manage residents, reinforce case goals, and encourage appropriate interactions and pro-social living skills;
  • Undertaking duties in the Electronic Monitoring Centre performing duties as required in regards to offender movement.

Requirements:

This is an ongoing, full-time opportunity requiring a qualification and/or relevant experience, and a current Victorian Drivers Licence is mandatory.
