Job Description:

The role of Registered Nurse in the Mental Health Inpatient Unit at Broken Hill Hospital requires providing individualized, evidence-based 24-hour care to mental health patients as part of a multidisciplinary team. This position is available on a permanent full-time basis.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality patient care through effective collaboration with healthcare professionals and application of evidence-based practice principles.
  • Develop skills across a wide range of specialties within a smaller, rural hospital environment.
  • Contribute to delivering meaningful mental health outcomes for the local community by fostering a positive patient experience.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Proven experience working with mental health consumers, including those with co-morbidities; inpatient experience preferred.
  • Application of evidence-based practice for individualized patient care within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to person-centered care and reduction of seclusion/restraint.
  • Ability to work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients, families, and colleagues to improve health outcomes.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; intermediate computer skills.
