We are seeking an entry-level pictorial and video journalist with a flair for creativity and the ability to film, edit and amplify visual content. You will be responsible for capturing vision and images on news assignments, setting up and conducting interviews, and editing film footage.

To succeed in this role, you must have excellent understanding of assignment briefs, take direction as well as pitch your own ideas for coverage of news, lifestyle, entertainment and sport. You should also be able to work quickly and independently in a dynamic news environment.

The ideal candidate will have some experience as a creative storyteller who is technically proficient in shooting and editing video content. You should also have proficiency in operating professional video cameras, including knowledge of framing, composition, and lighting techniques.

You will be working with a team of professionals who are passionate about delivering high-quality content to our audience. As a Visual Content Creator, you will have the opportunity to learn from experienced journalists and develop your skills in a fast-paced environment.

Some key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Pitching, researching, reporting and scripting news videos and packages
  • Managing video production from ideation to post-production and ensuring timely delivery under tight deadlines
  • Having a great eye for creative ways to tell stories in keeping with the latest off-platform video trends
  • Collaborating with colleagues across the newsroom and the wider company to identify opportunities to produce audience-first videos across multiple platforms

We offer a competitive salary package, which includes a base salary of AU$60,000 - AU$80,000 per annum, depending on experience. You will also have access to a range of benefits, including flexible working hours, parental leave, and professional development opportunities.
