Chief Digital Heritage Custodian

The National Archives of Australia is seeking a digital preservation specialist to join their team. As the Manager, Digital Preservation, you will be responsible for driving the development and implementation of the organization's digital preservation agenda.
The ideal candidate will have experience in managing digital archival records and be familiar with current and future preservation needs. They will also possess strong technical skills, including knowledge of metadata standards and digital storage solutions.
- Develop and implement procedures for ensuring the ongoing safety and access to digitized and born-digital records
- Manage unidentified digital formats and develop new methods for managing complex digital records
- Oversee and test the effectiveness of digital storage solutions in collaboration with IT staff
In addition to technical expertise, the successful applicant will have excellent leadership and communication skills, with experience in managing teams and their performance.
A degree in information studies, archival science, or conservation science, or an equivalent combination of training and experience, is required. Eligibility for the role includes being an Australian citizen and obtaining a Negative Vetting Level 2 security clearance.
