Prosecutor Job Description

A dynamic role that offers a broad level of experience across all Magistrates Court criminal matters, providing a depth of skill and expertise in the field of prosecuting, including a specialist Domestic and Family Violence Court.

The key accountabilities for this position include:

  • Providing a prosecution service for the area of responsibility.
  • Providing legal advice within the area of responsibility on matters pertaining to court processes.
  • Monitoring the provision of briefs of evidence by police to ensure the highest quality of briefs is maintained.
  • Liaising, consulting and negotiating with members of the Queensland Police Service, the legal profession, government agencies and the community towards the establishment of effective working relationships and achievement of desired policing outcomes.
  • Identifying environmental factors affecting the work area and actively contributing to the development and provision of legal research, argument, submissions, opinion and advice.
  • Setting and maintaining high standards of performance and conduct in daily work activities.

Key Requirements:

  • Mandatory - Admission as, eligibility for immediate admission as, or entitlement to practice as, a legal practitioner in the State of Queensland.
