Job Title: Health, Safety and Environment Manager

This is your opportunity to join a team of professionals at a remote mine site, where you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the health, safety and environmental sustainability of the operation.

The site has been set up using cutting-edge technology, with ongoing vertical shaft projects that require meticulous management and coordination.

About the Role:
  • The HSEC Manager is responsible for overseeing the implementation of all health, safety and environmental requirements for the project.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Identify areas for improvement in safety protocols and training needs across various departments.
  2. Ensure employees comply with established management operating procedures (MOPs).
  3. Maintain an accurate training needs analysis for the organization.
  4. Coordinate all training initiatives for personnel.
  5. Ensure accurate documentation of employee training records.
  6. Guarantee adherence to environmental regulations and standards.
  7. Conduct workplace inspections and track participation levels.
  8. Manage rehabilitation and return-to-work programs, including documentation and consultation with healthcare professionals.
  9. Conduct risk assessments and JSA training sessions.
  10. Prepare and facilitate toolbox meetings and safety briefings.
  11. Collaborate with operations teams on risk management processes.
  12. Investigate incidents as required, within designated timeframes.
  13. Report incidents accurately and timely.
  14. Advise management on Workplace Health and Safety legislative requirements.
  15. Participate in safety meetings, roster changes, and staff discussions.
About You:
  • Experience as a senior safety professional in the mining or construction industry.
  • Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent qualification.
  • Demonstrated people management experience.
  • Familiarity with safety management principles and systematic approaches.
  • Knowledge of relevant Workplace Health and Safety legislation.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational abilities.
  • Problem-solving and adaptability.
  • Attention to detail to ensure compliance.
  • A drive for continuous improvement.
  • Qualifications in Incident Cause Analysis Measures (ICAM) highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
