Overview

Position: Senior Environmental Advisor – Mining Operations

Location: WA – FIFO 8/6 roster from Perth

Salary: $140K – $165K + super + 7.5% bonus

About the Role: We are seeking a highly capable Senior Environmental Advisor to join a dynamic mining operation in Western Australia. This site-based role is ideal for an experienced environmental professional who is confident working independently and keen to take ownership of environmental systems, compliance, and monitoring programs.

You'll play a critical role in maintaining the Environmental Management System, driving regulatory compliance, and supporting broader site sustainability initiatives. Working closely with site leadership and mentoring junior staff, this role offers real impact and long-term career progression.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and improve the site Environmental Management System, plans, and procedures.
  • Deliver inductions and training on environmental awareness and responsibilities.
  • Identify and manage environmental risks and ensure full regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate and report on NPI, NGERS, CPS, AERs, and other statutory obligations.
  • Conduct site inspections, internal audits, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Manage clearance activities and disturbance planning.
  • Oversee monitoring programs for groundwater, surface water, waste, dust, and noise.
  • Lead incident reporting and investigation for environmental events.
  • Supervise environmental contractors, consultants, and mentor the Environmental Technician.
  • Contribute to mine closure planning and progressive rehabilitation.
  • Support community engagement activities on environmental topics.
  • Maintain site environmental tools, equipment, and consumables.

Key Criteria
  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar environmental role within the mining or resources sector.
  • Strong knowledge of WA mining and environmental legislation.
  • Proficient with GIS software and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to liaise across departments and contractors.
  • Seniority level: Mid-Senior level
