Career Opportunity in Rehabilitation Counselling

This role offers a fulfilling chance for an experienced Counsellor to contribute to the success of therapeutic interventions in the Offender Reintegration program.

Utilizing knowledge of psychologically informed practice, the successful applicant will foster reintegration and community connections through individual counselling sessions with detainees at the Alexander Maconochie Centre.

The Counsellor will also support critical incident response, facilitate the detainee Peer Mentor program, and help reduce recidivism by providing evidence-based interventions.

In addition, the Counsellor will participate in the planning, development, and evaluation of client programs and services, including policy and procedures.

A strong interest in rehabilitation, community connections, and reintegration is essential, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team and interact with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Counselling or related field is required.
  • Professional membership or demonstrated eligibility for professional membership of a relevant counselling body is highly desirable.

  • Current registration under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is essential prior to commencement.
