The role involves working with adult community-based teams within the Mental Health Service, providing relief as required across these teams. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, including a registrar and other medical professionals, who work together to provide high-quality care to consumers in the Cairns area.

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of treatment plans, provide leadership and guidance to junior staff members, and participate in quality improvement initiatives. Your expertise and knowledge will be invaluable in helping to shape the future of mental health services in Cairns.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in psychiatry, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing high-quality clinical care to consumers in the Cairns area
  • Developing and implementing treatment plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
  • Leading and guiding junior staff members to achieve optimal outcomes
  • Participating in quality improvement initiatives to enhance mental health services

Requirements include:

  • Current registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Fellowship with the Royal Australia & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (essential)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
