The Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Geologist to join our team.

You will be part of our accomplished Engineering Group and will work alongside our established team of technical experts, assisting in delivering successful projects. Your role will also be well supported across our business, with skilled resources available.

Your technical expertise will be deployed across projects in the transport, power, water, mining, property and government sectors to continue the growth of an already successful and reputable capability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct survey analysis on the behaviour and mechanics of soil and rock when placed under pressure by proposed structures
  • Investigate geological formations and ground behaviour and conduct scientific investigations and testing to understand the impact of these formations on engineering design.
  • Conduct studies of the structure, nature and formation of the earth's crust to inform against engineering design.
  • Conduct fieldwork activities including site investigations, soil logging and other activities including soil and groundwater sampling.
  • Study the effects of natural events such as erosion, sedimentation, earthquakes and ground instability on engineering project site developments.
  • All aspects of field observations and site investigations of small to large scale engineering projects
  • Manage, perform analysis and carry out reporting for projects
  • Provide safety leadership in identifying and alleviating high priority safety hazards
  • Prepare proposals and reports for clients.

Requirements

  • Tertiary degree in Geology or Engineering, or equivalent qualification
  • At least 2 years' experience performing a similar role
  • Willingness to travel and work on remote sites when required
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Proven track record of independent work and ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Valid manual driver's license
