This position involves leveraging data and insights to inform local government authorities in developing safe local road and street network safety plans and projects. The successful candidate will lead the delivery of data and insights, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing solutions that enhance road safety.
Key responsibilities include translating existing risk data, road infrastructure attributes, movement and place classifications, speed data and other network data to generate insights for network safety plans. Additionally, the role requires identifying appropriate data sets linking these spatially using appropriate techniques to connect data sets across the transport portfolio.
The Data and Insights Specialist will communicate complex data insights and analysis to stakeholders through visual displays and simplified key messages. This includes working independently to verify data use and interpretation, identifying the most appropriate valid data sets. Collaboration with the Network Safety Plan team and broader Departmental staff is also required to solve complex data challenges.
Strong stakeholder relationships are essential in achieving successful outcomes in line with the Safe System philosophy, Transport Integration Act objectives, and Movement and Place. Promoting safe, inclusive and flexible team operations is also a key aspect of this role.
Requirements- A tertiary qualification in a related field is necessary for this role.
- Relevant experience is also required, with a focus on data analysis, reporting and communication.
- Technical competency in spatial software (QGIS preferred, esri products, Power BI) is essential.
- Substantial stakeholder management experience within government is also necessary.
