Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner

Our organisation is seeking a dedicated and experienced Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based positive behaviour support to NDIS participants.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in various settings, including clinics, hospitals, aged care facilities, schools, homes, and via telehealth. You will assist NDIS participants, along with their families and carers, to identify needs through assessment and planning.

You will develop, evaluate, and deliver evidence-based support plans within complex support environments. This will involve creating meaningful goals and practical strategies using a positive behaviour support framework, aiming to eliminate restrictive practices in home and community settings.

As a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner, you will ensure that plans reflect participants' goals, passions, and strengths. You will also build capacity and strengths of those supporting participants, including family, carers, and friends.

Collaboration is essential in this role, as you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including mentoring less experienced practitioners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist NDIS participants, along with their families and carers, to identify needs through assessment and planning.
  • Develop, evaluate, and deliver evidence-based support plans within complex support environments.
  • Create meaningful goals and practical strategies using a positive behaviour support framework.
  • Ensure plans reflect participants' goals, passions, and strengths.
  • Build capacity and strengths of those supporting participants.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including mentoring less experienced practitioners.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess excellent report writing, communication, and interpersonal skills. A valid driver's licence and reliable vehicle are also required.

A degree in an allied health discipline is preferred. Significant experience supporting individuals with behaviours of concern is also highly valued.
