We are seeking experienced and empathetic individuals to join our team as Disability Support Workers.

Job Overview:

As a key member of our support network, you will play a vital role in empowering participants to achieve their goals and live fulfilling lives.

The Role Involves:

  • Providing person-centered support and empowering individuals with disabilities to reach their full potential.
  • Assisting with community access and recreational activities that promote social inclusion and independence.
  • Offering personal care, including showering, toileting, and personal hygiene assistance, in a respectful and dignified manner.
  • Manual handling and/or using equipment to support mobility (wheelchairs or hoists) while ensuring participant safety.
  • Transportation and social engagement support to facilitate connections within the community.
  • Light domestic duties such as meal preparation and cleaning, promoting independence and autonomy.

Requirements:

  • Professional or lived experience supporting someone with a disability, demonstrating empathy and understanding.
  • Experience supporting people with mental health and complex behaviors, utilizing de-escalation techniques and crisis management.
  • Familiarity with hoist use, PEG feeding, or epilepsy management, showcasing adaptability and flexibility.
  • Flexible availability and a long-term commitment to the role, prioritizing participant needs.

Essential Criteria:

  • An understanding of the disability/community services sector, including person-centered approaches and evidence-based practices.
  • Transferable life/work skills combined with a caring and compassionate approach, valuing diversity and inclusivity.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable vehicle, facilitating transportation and mobility.
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Vulnerable People card, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Current police verification and the legal right to work in Australia, upholding professional standards.
  • Excellent communication skills and a genuine interest in promoting the wellbeing and inclusion of people with disabilities, fostering strong relationships.
