Job Title: Electrical Protection Engineer

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical Protection Engineer to join our team.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing protection schemes for HV/MV substations, transmission, and distribution networks. They will prepare and review relay protection settings, logic diagrams, and scheme drawings in compliance with AS/NZS standards.

  • Design and develop protection schemes for HV/MV substations, transmission, and distribution networks.
  • Prepare and review relay protection settings, logic diagrams, and scheme drawings in compliance with AS/NZS standards.
  • Carry out protection coordination studies, short circuit analysis, load flow, and stability studies using industry software.
  • Develop detailed specifications for protective relays, CTs/VTs, circuit breakers, and associated control/protection panels.
  • Liaise with utilities, EPC contractors, and OEMs for protection equipment selection and configuration.
  • Prepare technical documentation including protection reports, single-line diagrams, and functional specifications.
  • Support SCADA and communication system integration for protection and control systems.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Adherence to AS/NZS standards and WHS legislation, with strict application of permit-to-work.
  • Skilled in protection coordination, SCADA integration, fault diagnosis, and root cause analysis of HV/MV equipment.
  • Ability to stay updated with the latest advancements in electrical engineering technologies and best practices.
  • Technical troubleshooting skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
