Are you a seasoned professional looking to take on a new challenge? We have an exciting opportunity for a Department Manager to join our team.
The Department Manager role is an excellent chance to work within various departments on high-profile VFX feature films. You will be working closely with the Head of Department to ensure the smooth operation of your respective department(s). This includes providing career guidance, organizing suitable training, and ensuring all shows are properly resourced. As a result, artist teams will have everything they need to deliver high-quality work on time and in a sustainable way.
Your key responsibilities will include building strong relationships with multiple show production teams, upstream and downstream departments, and instilling this into your team. You will also be responsible for ensuring allocated work is progressing through the department effectively and deadlines are being met.
To succeed in this role, you must have proven experience in the VFX Feature Film industry, an excellent understanding of a VFX production pipeline, and a proven track record of delivering to deadlines. You should also possess excellent knowledge of VFX to make critical calls on crew allocations and resourcing. Strong teamwork ability, written and verbal communication skills, and experience in managing artists and clients are essential.
A nice-to-have skillset includes knowledge of Shotgun and/or Filemaker, as well as previous experience working in or with development teams.
We are looking for a team leader who is approachable, personable, and has strong motivational qualities. The ideal candidate should be calm under pressure, committed to helping productions meet deadlines, and able to deliver results in a fast-paced environment. Excellent problem-solving skills, a positive attitude, and a passion for film are highly valued.
