About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled reporter to take up a senior editorial position, overseeing multiple regional mastheads.

This role represents an exceptional opportunity for a motivated professional looking to progress their career in journalism, overseeing the content direction of our key regional publications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gathering and writing original news stories for publication in print and online;
  • Developing positive relationships with key stakeholders and organisations;
  • Breaking news stories and creating engaging content that resonates with local audiences;
  • Steering the editorial direction of our regional papers;
  • Interviewing and photographing subjects confidently and professionally;
  • Leading a small team of reporters and contributing to a collaborative work environment;
  • Representing our organisation in a professional and courteous manner.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:

  • At least two years' experience as a reporter, preferably in a regional or metropolitan setting;
  • Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances;
  • An eye for detail and a passion for storytelling;
  • A sense of urgency and focus on meeting deadlines;
  • A valid driver's license and a willingness to travel to remote locations;
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality content that meets the needs of our readers.
