About the Role

This pivotal position requires an experienced professional to analyze risks within energy commodity portfolios, encompassing Oil, LNG, Gas and Coal.

The selected candidate will develop tools and models to provide insights into the energy market landscape and our company's exposures.

Key responsibilities include managing risk models, collaborating with stakeholders for accurate reporting, and communicating market developments in a clear manner.

  • Develop advanced tools and analytical models to offer strategic insights into the energy market and our company's portfolio.
  • Lead the development of key risk models, including data sourcing, validation, and reconciliation of model inputs and outputs.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate risk reporting, fostering strong relationships across departments.
  • Communicate market updates and trading position changes effectively, highlighting important data and trends.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of risk models, methodologies, and assumptions, assisting with risk committee activities.
Requirements

A proactive approach to learning and relationship-building is essential. A tertiary qualification in economics, mathematics or a related field (CFA) is required.

  • Prior experience in energy derivatives and commodity markets is necessary.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau are desirable.
  • A high level of attention to detail, particularly in data validation and reconciliation, is required.
  • A solid understanding of quantitative finance concepts, including Value at Risk (VaR) and option pricing, is necessary.
  • Proficiency in programming and data tools such as VBA, SQL, and Python is required.
