As a Police Communication Operator, you will play a vital role in providing superior, client-focused services to the community of Queensland.
Key Responsibilities- Manage emergency calls with a high level of negotiation and conflict management skills to de-escalate situations and obtain vital information.
- Apply the Queensland Police Service's demand management framework (SOLVE) to request police resource allocation for incident response.
- Relay accurate data using voice communications equipment in a time-critical environment to inform responding police units.
- Research various police data systems to gather information on relevant persons, vehicles, and places of interest.
- Review incidents and assess tasks to continuously update information with accuracy and speed.
- Liaise with other service providers to allocate resources as required by operational police.
- Comply with information security policies to ensure confidentiality and accurate data usage.
- Research and interpret legislation, criminal, and civil issues to provide relevant information.
- Contribute positively within a dynamic team environment to achieve service delivery standards.
Mandatory
- Initial appointment is on a fixed-term temporary basis while participating in a 6-month training program.
- Appointees work a 24/7 roster with 36.25 hours per week, including shift penalties.
- Successful applicants may undergo alcohol and/or drug testing according to Service policy.
- A recent keyboard skills certificate demonstrating 40 words per minute at 98% accuracy is required.
- Shortlisted applicants undergo typing, call-taker simulation, and cognitive assessments.
- Successful applicants must pass a psychological assessment.
- A PEMS hearing test is mandatory, including Pure Tone Audiometry and Speech Discrimination Assessment.
- Regular hearing testing is required during ongoing employment.
Additional Requirements
- Applications remain valid for 12 months.
