About the Role


We are seeking an experienced Audit and Risk Management Systems Officer to join our team at Blacktown City Council. The successful candidate will have a strong background in risk management and compliance, with excellent analytical and communication skills.


Key Responsibilities



  • Develop and administer a comprehensive strategic programme of audit and risk management activities across Council's operations
  • Maintain strategic and operational risk registers, and performance of internal audits in accordance with our Strategic Audit Plan
  • Collaborate with our executive and management team to identify and mitigate risks, and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of management control
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on risk management and compliance matters, and develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure Council's compliance with regulatory requirements

Requirements



  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum a diploma) in Accounting, Audit, Commerce or Business Management
  • Solid experience in auditing and implementation of ERM systems
  • A high level understanding of AS/NZS ISO 31000:2009 Risk Management and the Global Internal Audit Standards issued by the Institute of Internal Auditors
  • Excellent analytical, communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence others and work effectively in a team environment
  • Interpersonal skills with a capacity to influence others, experience in completing audits in government agencies, and demonstrated project management and facilitation skills

  • The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council's Enterprise Agreement
  • Entry level for this position starts at $2,092.02 per week
  • 35-hour working week, opportunity to participate in Council's flextime arrangement, and employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 11.5% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs
