**Job Title:** Risk Management Specialist - Financial Services
**Location:** Melbourne, Australia
**Duration:** 9 months (contract)
A leading financial services firm is seeking a highly skilled Risk Management Specialist to join their team in Melbourne. As a key member of the risk management team, you will be responsible for providing technical advice and support to second-line teams on operational risk mitigation strategies and controls.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience in risk management within Australia's financial services sector, with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry best practices. You will possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design and implement effective risk management frameworks and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide subject matter expert advice on risk management frameworks, operational risk mitigation strategies, and controls.
- Advise on new initiatives and strategies from a risk and compliance perspective.
- Manage the delivery of non-financial risk and compliance initiatives when required.
- Analyse existing business practices, policies, processes, and procedures to identify areas for improvement.
- Design and implement controls and processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Support second-line teams with day-to-day activities, including development of risk mitigating strategies and controls.
- Contribute to the preparation and enhancement of risk and compliance reporting to relevant governance/business forums.
**Requirements:**
- 5-7 years of experience in risk management within Australia's financial services sector.
- Tertiary qualification in Business, Law, Finance, Risk, or related field.
- Prior experience on regulatory change projects with a CPS 220-230 focus would be well regarded.
- Practical experience in implementing operational risk management frameworks, systems, and tools.
- Deep knowledge of internal controls' governance and oversight across all three lines of defence.
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
**Salary:** AU$120,000 - AU$150,000 per annum, depending on experience.
