Domestic Violence Practitioner

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated practitioner to support women and children affected by domestic violence in Maryborough. The successful applicant will provide trauma-informed care, safety planning, and advocacy services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide children's counseling using trauma-informed approaches.
  • Conduct intake, risk assessment, and safety planning for women and children.
  • Offer individual counseling and psychoeducation for women.
  • Support clients navigating domestic violence-related legal systems.
  • Deliver group work programs to promote healing and education.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders, including child protection agencies, law enforcement, corrections, and housing services.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of two years of experience in domestic violence counseling, risk assessment, court support, and group work.
  • Demonstrated understanding of gendered violence, the Domestic and Family Violence Act, Child Protection Act, and Family Law Act.
  • A well-developed practice framework aligned with trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches.
  • Experience supporting diverse families with complex needs.
  • Strong skills in report writing, case notes, data entry, and professional communication.
