About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Family Violence Prevention Specialist to join our team in Maryborough on a permanent full-time basis.

This diverse position supports clients through various initiatives including:

  • Children's counselling using trauma-informed and developmentally appropriate approaches.
  • Intake, risk assessment and safety planning for women and children.
  • Individual counselling and education for women.
  • Court support for clients navigating legal systems related to family violence.
  • Women's advocacy, including referral pathways, safety upgrades, and practical supports.
  • Group work delivery to support healing and education.
  • Liaison with key stakeholders including Child Safety, Police, Corrections and Housing.
  • Potential rotation in local police stations to strengthen community response.
Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing high-quality services to clients affected by family violence.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Conducting intake, risk assessment and safety planning for women and children.
  • Delivering individual and group programs to support clients.
  • Providing court support and advocacy services.
  • Participating in team meetings and contributing to service development.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A minimum of two years' experience working in family violence prevention and support.
  • Demonstrated understanding of family violence, relevant legislation and policy.
  • A well-developed practice framework that aligns with trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches.
  • Experience working with diverse families and communities.
  • Strong skills in report writing, case management and professional communication.
Qualifications

You will need to hold:

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or a related field.
  • Eligibility for membership with a relevant professional association.
  • A current Working with Children Check and National Police Check.
