Job Description

Be part of a dynamic team and contribute to shaping memorable experiences for our guests. As a key member of our marine operations team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe mechanical operation of our vessels.

The Senior Vessel Engineer is responsible for overseeing the machinery space condition and the competency of vessel engineers. This includes managing the vessel visit and inspection program, overseeing training and development requirements, and assessing the performance of vessel engineers.

You will also be involved in drafting and implementing vessel engineering SOPs, documents, and touch drills. Additionally, you will ensure vocational training is aligned with career progression pathways for vessel engineers and other crew members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the vessel visit and inspection program to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Oversee training and development requirements for vessel engineers.
  • Assess the performance of vessel engineers and provide coaching as needed.
  • Assist in the drafting and implementation of vessel engineering SOPs, documents, and touch drills.
  • Ensure vocational training is aligned with career progression pathways for vessel engineers.
  • Conduct audits and oversee the training of vessel HELM records and onboard users.
About You

To succeed in this role, you will possess a strong technical background with extensive knowledge of marine engines and systems. Your experience with installations and conducting risk assessments will enable you to implement practical safety measures effectively.

Exceptional customer service abilities, strong organisational skills, and keen attention to detail are essential for this position. Intermediate computer literacy and proficiency with maintenance management software are also required.

Qualifications:
  • High level of expertise in marine engines and system knowledge, including installations.
  • Proven experience in conducting risk assessments and implementing safety measures.
  • Exceptional customer service abilities.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Intermediate computer literacy.
  • Certificate IV in Maritime Operations (Marine Engine Driver Grade 1 NC).
  • First aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification.
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol (QLD) certification.
  • Working with Children's Check (Blue Card) clearance.
  • Experience within the Marine Tourism industry highly preferred.
