Mechanical Maintenance Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Maintenance Specialist to join our team at Cook Colliery. This role will oversee and coordinate the mechanical maintenance activities to ensure the smooth operation of all equipment and machinery on site.

About the Role:
Lead and manage the mechanical maintenance team to ensure optimal operation and reliability of mining equipment and machinery.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance, repairs, and emergency breakdown responses.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless operational continuity.
  • Assist with the procurement and inventory management of parts and tools.
  • Monitor and report on maintenance performance, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Provide leadership, training, and mentoring to mechanical maintenance personnel.
  • Participate in risk assessments, safety audits, and troubleshooting activities.

Key Responsibilities:
This role involves overseeing and coordinating the mechanical maintenance activities to ensure the smooth operation of all equipment and machinery on site. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in mechanical systems within a mining environment and a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and compliance.

Skill Requirements:
The ideal candidate should possess the following skills:
  • Trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter or equivalent.
  • Significant experience in mechanical maintenance within the mining or heavy industry sector.
  • Strong knowledge of mining equipment, including crushers, conveyors, and excavators.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage teams effectively.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure.
  • A commitment to high standards of safety, environmental practices, and quality control.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with maintenance management software and computer systems.
