Job Description">

The role of a Water Planning Specialist is to contribute to the development and implementation of water plans that support sustainable water management in Queensland.


You will be working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams to coordinate input and deliver output for water planning functions and business objectives.


Key Responsibilities">
  • ">
  • Conduct water planning activities within a region, including coordinating input from associated teams and delivering output for water planning functions and business objectives.">
  • Draft policy papers and recommendations for the development of water plans, supporting instruments, and other water planning documents in line with Queensland Water Act 2000 requirements.">
  • Undertake technical reviews to inform the development of water management solutions and policy, and liaise with technical experts from various disciplines to inform the technical review.">
  • Conduct desktop research, data collection, interpretation, and analysis to inform the assessment of a range of water management and policy issues.">
  • Assist with consultation with internal and external clients.">
  • Prepare policy papers, briefing notes, and other correspondence as required.">

Requirements">

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A degree in a relevant field such as environmental science, hydrology, or a related field.">
  • Experience in water planning and management, preferably in a government or public sector environment.">
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and information.">
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.">
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of autonomy and initiative.">
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.">
  • Ability to travel frequently, as required.">
