Job Opportunity:

Community Development Specialist

This role offers a unique chance to build strong relationships with the First Nations community and develop effective partnerships that meet their needs.

  • Develop key partnerships and networks with elders and community members using excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Work collaboratively to ensure First Nations people can easily access and feel comfortable with our services, promoting cultural sensitivity and understanding.
  • Support staff in acknowledging country and deepening their knowledge of the true history and social impacts faced by First Nations People.

The successful candidate will be based in our Gosford & Tuggerah office, traveling to surrounding communities as needed. The role involves working across the Central Coast region, collaborating with the team to create culturally informed programs that support and empower First Nations Families through life transitions.

The position requires a Certificate IV in Community Development or willingness to develop these skills, along with experience in community work, family mediation, and case management. Understanding of social issues affecting First Nations communities within the local region is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist First Nations people in accessing Interrelate services through establishing good working relationships and referral pathways.
  • Engage with First Nations communities to identify their needs.
  • Evaluate programs and provide recommendations that benefit local First Nations communities in line with Interrelate's strategic priorities.
