The role of a GIS Officer involves maintaining data within the organisation's Geographical Information System (GIS).

Main functions of the position include ensuring information is captured from field and project work to support ongoing maintenance of network and non-network assets.

Daily tasks include updating the GIS database with land and linear asset data, interpreting digital drawings and information sent to the organisation, and liaising with internal staff and contractors regarding work as constructed (WAC) drawings and field records.

The GIS Officer will be responsible for providing accurate and up-to-date data to users, offering support with GIS data, engineering drawings, maps, plan interpretation, and other related documents.

Plan generation services will also be provided to internal and external customers as requested.

GIS data will be delivered to clients in a suitable format.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in GIS, Engineering or a related Trade, and a minimum of 3 years' experience working in GIS roles
  • Demonstrated experience in capturing GIS data
  • Sound knowledge of appropriate GIS editing software
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills
