A strong grasp of Spatial Data and eagerness to develop skills and grow with us are key.The position is casual with flexible arrangements subject to negotiation.
The volume and frequency of the work may vary depending on project workload however, the initial workload is expected to be driven by the availability of the successful candidate (up to 40 hours per week).
Reporting to the Geospatial Team Lead within the Environmental Section, the position duties include:Undertake spatial data processing, capture and audit tasks for asset management projectsExtract pertinent spatial data and related information from client databases and manipulate using ETL processes to suit project requirementsAdhere to data processing workflows and quality control frameworks, while identifying opportunities for improvementProduce high quality cartographic figuresRegular reporting, both formal and informal, to team leader and project manager andProvision of general GIS support and technical services across the business, as required.Position RequirementsA tertiary qualification in GIS or a related spatial discipline, or candidates with relevant technical skills and experience, including those currently studying towards a qualification, may also be considered.Experience in ArcGIS or QGIS suite of softwareSpatial data management, analysis and geoprocessing experienceA sound understanding of the Microsoft Office suite of products and working within the Windows operating systemKnowledge or experience in any of the following will be seen as advantageous: FME, Python scripting, field data capture technology, previous work in a consulting environmentAn understanding of different coordinate systems and projections and the role they play in capturing data from disparate sourceWhy you should work for Talis:At Talis, we pride ourselves on having a welcoming and inclusive working environment, where our differences are embraced.
