Job Brief

The Climate Resilient Communities Support Unit seeks a Disaster Risk Reduction Expert to support its initiatives.

This role involves providing advisory services and building capacity of program staff and implementation partners to integrate disaster risk reduction across aid investment planning, program development, and risk management.

The Adviser will identify and understand climate-related and non-climate related disaster risks, assess their potential impacts, and design measures to build resilience.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders
  • Providing advisory services and capacity building
  • Translating technical advice into practical knowledge and action
  • Identifying specialist advice requirements

The Adviser will work closely with the Climate Resilient Communities Support Unit to achieve its goals and deliver effective results.

About You

Applicants should have advanced degree and relevant experience in disaster risk reduction, emergency management, or geosciences.

Contemporary knowledge of disaster risk management principles and practices is essential, as is experience working with international development programs in the Indo-Pacific region.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are also required, along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
