Policy and Project Officer Role

We are seeking a skilled Policy and Project Officer to assist with funding activations in response to the current flooding situation.

  • The successful candidate will work collaboratively with government agencies and other stakeholders to develop and implement policies that support effective disaster response and recovery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement policy initiatives to ensure effective disaster response and recovery.
  • Develop and manage relationships with state and territory government stakeholders to facilitate policy development and implementation.
  • Lead legislative change initiatives as required to support policy goals.
  • Analyse and report on the effectiveness of policy initiatives, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Manage the scoping and development of an end-to-end system to support and streamline the disaster payment process.

Ideal Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated stakeholder engagement skills to build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies and other stakeholders.
  • Strong policy development skills, including the ability to analyse complex data and develop evidence-based recommendations.
  • Leadership and staff management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide teams towards achieving policy goals.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good understanding of administrative practices and processes relevant to the APS, with the ability to apply this knowledge to support policy development and implementation.
