About the Role

We are thrilled to announce an opening for an Assistant Accountant at Metcash, located in Macquarie Park. This position will support the accounting and reporting functions within the Food - Commercial sector. The primary focus will be on month-end activities, including closing processes, reconciliations, compliance, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Timely preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports for the Food - Commercial sector.
  2. Accurate compilation of monthly journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations according to Metcash's reporting schedules.
  3. Support one of the Food - Commercial Managers during external audits, including half-year reviews and full-year assessments.
  4. Enhance existing processes by streamlining reporting in accordance with pillar requirements.
  5. Engage in ad-hoc project work as necessary.
Ideal Candidate Profile
  1. A minimum of 2 years of professional experience (not necessarily in finance).
  2. A degree in accounting or a related field.
  3. CPA / CA qualified or pursuing further qualifications.
  4. Experience with SAP, TM1, Power Enterprise, Power Query, and PowerPivot is advantageous.
  5. A positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
