About the Role

We're seeking a highly experienced Chief Communications Strategist to lead our consumer PR, social media, and events efforts. As a senior leader within the Virgin Australia organisation, you'll be responsible for developing and executing our PR and social media strategy to drive positive reputational impact, brand advocacy, and commercial outcomes.

You'll provide communications counsel to our Executive, Group, and Senior Leadership teams on key matters that may impact business outcomes. Your expertise will help us navigate complex issues and maintain a strong reputation in the market.

Your Requirements

We're looking for an individual with:

  • 10-12 years' experience in senior leadership across consumer PR, social, role, within a large and complex consumer-facing organisation
  • A communications or similar discipline degree
  • Content and social expertise across all social platforms, paid and organic, community management experience, and delivered Crisis Management within a regulated and complex operating environment
  • Experience with media and Issues Management
  • Developed C-Suite Communications strategy for consumer PR
  • Worked with high-profile public-facing retail brands and supported communications for large-scale organisational change
  • Delivered campaigns, including activations and PR initiatives, to drive brand health and growth for the business within narrow timeframes
  • An exceptional media relations and Spokesperson capability
  • A natural ability to build positive relationships and cross-functional teamwork to develop win-win partnerships
  • A strong commercial mindset with the ability to balance strategic and tactical initiatives
  • The confidence, credibility, and personal presence sufficient to establish and maintain working relationships with senior executive leaders
  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to influence at a senior level, drive engagement, and articulate complex concepts and presenting compelling arguments
  • Demonstrated People Leader experience
  • Understanding or experience working in or with Travel/Tourism/Aviation (desirable)
