Haematology and Clinical Position Overview

This role involves delivering high-quality diagnostic, consultative, procedural and on-call specialty services in Laboratory Haematology and Clinical Haematology. The successful candidate will participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities.

Key responsibilities include ensuring a high standard of professional performance, encouraging an academic environment that supports research and development, and demonstrating commitment to the principles of clinical quality management, continuous improvement and contemporary knowledge of National Pathology Accreditation Advisory Council (NPAAC) Standards and NATA accreditation processes.

Furthermore, the Staff Specialist will be expected to demonstrate personal qualities including effective communication skills, motivation, initiative, time management and commitment to professional development.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Laboratory Haematology and Clinical Haematology, with demonstrated experience in laboratory diagnosis and management of patients with inherited haemoglobin disorders.

Additionally, the position requires a Working with Children Check (WWCC) issued by the Office of the Children's Guardian.

Job Requirements and Qualifications
  • Currently registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), obtained Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia in Laboratory Haematology and obtained Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Clinical Haematology, and/or other specialist recognition as provided under the Staff Specialists (State) Award.
  • Demonstrated commitment to basic, applied or clinical research and/or medical education and staff training.
  • Proven ability to work as a team member with effective communication, interpersonal skills and adaptability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
