
Community Emergency Response Specialist

This role is based in a local community and aims to strengthen capacity to prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies.
About the RoleThis position involves leading engagement and advocacy activities to build knowledge, capability, and confidence within the community.
You will support workshops and training to develop skills and knowledge of emergency management and response.
The successful candidate will work closely with Local and District Disaster Management Groups, councils, community organisations, and volunteers to achieve common goals.
Key Requirements- A relevant four-year degree or three year degree with substantial years of relevant experience.
- Prior experience in emergency management, project management or community engagement and/or community development.
- Ability to set priorities, plan and organise own work and that of other staff and/or volunteers as required.
- Previous experience in delivering project/program outcomes.
- Ability to effectively support communities before, during, or after a disaster.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Interpersonal skills, presentation skills and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
A clearance to work with children (Blue Card) is a requirement for this role.
