Job Description

The Principal Project Officer position reports to the Program Manager and is responsible for preparing evidenced reports and providing advice to support the initiation and progression of strategic projects and policy development.

This role involves:

  • Developing program documentation including integration of available aligned activities, resources, and tools and progress activities within agreed timeframes
  • Using a project management framework encompassing clear planning, communication and governance processes for effective project outcomes
  • Undertaking research, environmental scanning and analysis to identify and advise on future strategic policy challenges, opportunities, priorities and issues
  • Preparing high level briefing documents, submissions, correspondence and reports
About You

We are looking for someone with:

  • High level knowledge of health priority areas especially, maternity and early years; the health needs of key population groups; and key health system issues
  • Leadership skills and ability to provide high level accurate and timely advice on complex issues
  • Ability to manage and deliver on projects, undertake research, interpret trends and provide detailed interpretation and analysis of reports, discussion papers and other project documentation
  • Demonstrated conceptual, analytical and innovative problem-solving skills and the ability to develop and implement flexible and responsive solutions to address issues and manage risks
  • High level written communication skills, including ability to prepare high quality documentation including concise briefs, compile accurate reports, discussion papers and submissions
  • High level verbal communication skills and achievements in cultivating productive working relationships, partnerships and teamwork and negotiate outcomes and effectively represent the interests of stakeholders
