About the Role

Ahrens is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Safety Professional to join our dynamic safety team in Perth. As a HSQE Advisor, you will play a key role in supporting our operations to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and control the company's HSQE Management Systems
  • Ensure processes and procedures are relevant, complete, and standardized
  • Enter and file health, safety, and environment information and records on company databases and systems
  • Ensure accurate records, training certificates, inspection reports, and other documents are readily available
  • Identify training needs, maintain a national training matrix, and organize and facilitate WHS training and verification of employee competency
  • Assist in project pre-planning to ensure project procedures and specifications reflect WHS and environmental factors
  • Prepare project management plans and other related HSE documentation
  • Maintain safety and general noticeboards with up-to-date and relevant information
  • Work with supervisors and managers to improve Safe Operating Procedures and plant and equipment management
  • Support operational teams with HSQE activities and initiatives on permanent and temporary sites
  • Coordinate internal auditing of operations from a HSQE perspective
  • Provide first aid treatment where required
  • Support the development and implementation of new HSQE programs and training initiatives
  • Work with managers to continually develop and improve HSE systems and procedures and integrate HSE into the culture
  • Coordinate and monitor training needs and requirements for the business, liaising with Divisional and Site Managers, as well as business administrators, to ensure regulatory and HSE training requirements are met
  • Provide administrative support for the review of Ahrens documentation and procedures to ensure compliance to necessary Legislation, Standards, and Codes of Practice
Requirements
  • Formal qualifications in WHS practices (or currently working towards)
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role within the construction, mining, or manufacturing industries
  • Construction Industry White Card
  • Effective written and oral communication skills, including skills in negotiating, developing, and managing cooperative working relationships
  • Issue resolution skills
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Flexibility to travel and visit project sites and other locations if required
  • Applied First Aid competency
  • Current driver's license
  • General Knowledge of Systems, Procedures, and Document Control principles
  • General Knowledge of business and management principles involved in coordination of people and resources
