Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Financial Accountant to join our team at News Corp Australia. This is a 9-month contract opportunity starting in January 2025.

About the Role

In this role, you will provide accurate financial information and insights to support decision-making and financial planning across the organisation. You will be responsible for maintaining and analysing financial records while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory controls.

Main Responsibilities
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records by recording all financial transactions, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments, in accordance with established accounting principles and policies.
  • Reconciling and reviewing general ledger accounts, and other financial records to identify discrepancies, resolve issues, and maintain the accuracy of financial data.
  • Analysing and reporting on Financial Statement balances and movements to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Ensuring compliance with accounting standards, SOx regulations, and company policies by monitoring and enforcing internal controls and procedures.
  • Implementation of tactical changes via automation, streamlining or elimination (if necessary) of processes.
  • Assisting in the preparation of financial schedules and documentation for external audits, ensuring compliance with audit requirements and addressing auditor inquiries.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and a CPA/CA (preferred).
  • Proven experience as a Financial Accountant or in a similar role with strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders and present financial information clearly.

$90,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience.
